Alloy 60


Alloy 60 obtains its galling resistant properties from the additions of manganese and silicon. In most environments, it has better corrosion resistance than 304 Stainless. Generally, its corrosion resistance is not as good as 316 Stainless. Compared to 304 and 316 Stainless, Alloy 60\'s yield strength in the annealed condition is almost double. It exhibits decent strength and maintains its anti-galling properties up to 1500° F. In some tests, Alloy 60 has outperformed more expensive cobalt alloys in wear resistance. Navratna stocks nuts in Alloy 60 ranging from 1/2-13 to 1\"-8 in both finished and heavy pattern certified to ASTM A194 Grade 8S. Most designs of a gall resistant joint require only one component to be gall resistant. Consequently, there is not much demand for male parts (hex bolts and stud bolts). We do stock some threaded rod in Alloy 60. We have supplied hex bolts in this material on an infrequent basis. Consequently, our stock is limited to sizes purchased by repeat customers. Generally, we can supply non-stock sizes in a reasonable amount of time. Socket head cap screws in Alloy 60 are a popular item, particularly for the semi-conductor industry. Navratna stocks #4-40 to 3/8″ diameter.
